READING and WRITING OPTIONS

Writing Options: Word Work

Our word work center activities are stored in pull out drawers, as seen above.  Students self-select an activity to work with.  They record their work in their word work journals, if there is not a recording packet that goes along with the activity.  During 2nd Semester, I have students use a "Words I Worked With Today" recording sheet (just to bring something new to the Word Work area).  Students may switch out drawers during the Literacy Corner rotation/session, if they desire.  Many of our Word Work activities are done at student tables, but some are done at the felt board, magnet board, white board, or pocket chart.  I also have ABC activities.  For students who are not yet proficient with their letter/sound knowledge, I have them work with ABC activities during Word Work time.
