Wikki Stix Letters

Objective:

Students use Wikki Stix to form letters.

Materials:

Wikki Stix

Wikki Stix ABC Book

When to Introduce:

 I introduce this activity the first or second month of school. 

How to Introduce:

Distribute one letter card to each student.

Distribute 2 Wikki Stix to each student.

Model how to mold/form/shape the Wikki Stix to create a letter.

Model how to clean the Wikki Stix from the letter template.

Model how to put the Wikki Stix back into its container.

Model how to put the letter template back into the 3-ring binder.

Allow student time to work.

Switch every few minutes so that students can experience different letter cards.

Remind students that when they visit the Fine Motor Corner (center), they may do the activity.

Storage Ideas:

The letter templates are laminated and 3-hole punched.  

The letter template are then put into a 3-ring binder.

A label is attached to the outside of the binder for easy identification.

The Wikki Stix containers are stored in a "laundry" basket along with the letter templates.
