Math Planning

Assessment Rubric Standards and Benchmarks Scope and Sequence Math Workshop Time Frame
Our unit of 1st grade teachers wanted to be able to consistently and fairly assign grades for assessments in math.  I created this document as a starter point, but then never really was able to use it as I moved to K for two years.  I look forward to being able to finally utilize this tool.  It may have gone through some revisions, I'll have to check with my 1st grade teacher colleagues.  If it did, I'll post the new version ASAP.

Math Assessment Rubric
These EXCEL documents are what I use to code my math assessments (the text book assessments).  I went through each math book assessment and coded it based on my district's standards and benchmarks.

Unit 1  2  3  4  5  6  7

Math Standards by Unit
I've created a
SCOPE and SEQUENCE

to help me keep on track.  Our school has adopted the "Math Pacing" concept so that each grade level covers the necessary skills and concepts.  We are given a pacing schedule that outlines the number of days each unit is allotted.  From there, classroom teachers plan and schedule activities to meet standards and benchmarks. Our math text book (see above picture) is a resource for us to use.

My classroom's math time is in the workshop format.

  • Calendar Wall

  • Calendar Math Journals

  • Read Aloud

  • Mini Lesson

  • Guided Practice

  • Independent Practice

  • Math Tubs

I will update my Math Tubs page and Math Mini Lessons Page as the year progresses to reflect what we do during our Math Workshop this year.

The documents on this site are created by me and are to be used in correlation with,

the 1st Grade Macmillan McGraw Math program.
